Termites will actually follow the trail of certain pens, but not all pens. Why is that so? Is it because termites prefer red ink? Or blue ink? Or they like to follow any ink that forms a circle on a piece of paper? Or is it the crease made in the paper by ballpoint pens that termites follow? Students will answer those questions and solve this mystery of what termites follow by designing their own experiments and applying scientific thinking to this problem.
